Why You Can’t Use or Exchange Monero in Exodus Wallet

in #wallet5 years ago

Exodus is a multi-asset cryptocurrency wallet that is aimed at users that want to store, send and exchange a wide variety of cryptocurrencies from within the same wallet.
In total, the exchange features support for well over one hundred different cryptocurrencies, including almost all of the most popular ones, such as Bitcoin, Litecoin and Tether. The wallet is also popular among privacy coin users, since they will be able to store their Monero, Zcash and Digibyte all in one place.
Although Monero is a popular cryptocurrency to store and use in Exodus, there are a variety of issues that can occur while doing so, the most common of which we’ll discuss below.

One of the most common issues people face when using Exodus is encountered when trying to exchange Monero using the built-in cryptocurrency exchange tool. This is a particular problem for users in the United States, where Exodus will not allow these users to exchange their XMR for anything else.
  • This could also be an issue for customers in other countries where there is regulatory uncertainty surrounding the exchanging of XMR. Normally this will also apply to practically every other cryptocurrency supported by the wallet, and Exodus will display an “Unavailable in your jurisdiction” error in the exchange interface.
  • If this isn’t your issue, then the odds are your XMR deposit simply hasn’t confirmed yet, and Exodus is waiting until it’s safe to allow you to access your funds. If this is the case, then you’ll see an error saying “Your total Monero is not available to send until it confirms.”
  • If you are seeing this error, then you will simply need to wait it out. After this, you’ll be able to either send your XMR to somebody else or exchange it through the exchange tool. Note that Exodus does not allow you to access or spend your Monero until it has at least 10 confirmations.
  • Lastly, there is a chance that your Exodus wallet has simply lost its sync with the Monero blockchain. To resolve this, simply refresh your Monero wallet using the Refresh Blockchain option available under the additional options (click the ellipsis symbol).
