How to View Recovery Seed on Exodus Wallet
Exodus is a popular multi-asset cryptocurrency wallet that has been on the scene since late 2015. In this time, it has grown to become one of the most popular wallets for new and experienced cryptocurrency users.
Like many popular cryptocurrency wallets, Exodus allows users to view their recovery seed. This offers several benefits, including allowing users to recover their wallet to another Exodus client whenever they need (e.g. if their computer breaks) or import their cryptocurrency wallet into another client.
In the case of Exodus, this recovery phrase is a 12-word master seed, which can be used to restore all of your wallet addresses and private keys. Exodus originally provides this 12-word recovery phrase during the wallet setup process, but some older wallets instead used a different recovery option.
Because of this, if you’re not certain if you have your 12-word seed backed up, it’s a good idea to follow along with these steps to retrieve and store your recovery seed.

View and Backup Your Exodus Recovery Seed
- Open your Exodus client and enter your password to unlock your wallet (if set). Once done, you should be presented with the Exodus wallet dashboard as shown above.
- In the left-hand wallet menu bar, you should see the Backup option. Click on this to pull up a list of available recovery and login options. Select the View Recovery Phrase option on the right-hand side.
- Exodus will ask you to unlock your wallet. Enter your password here, then click the Unlock Now button.
- Check the warning prompt on the next page and click the Show Phrase button.
- Exodus will then show your recovery phrase on the next page. Each word will be hidden under a separate tile and you will need to hover your mouse over each tile in sequence in order to reveal your entire phrase. Make sure you store this recovery phrase in the correct order, as the sequence of the words matters when it comes to recovering your wallet later (if needed).
- Once you have stored your 12-word recovery phrase in a safe place you are now free to exit Exodus and can use this phrase to recover or import your wallet whenever necessary.
- We recommend double-checking the phrase before closing the window.
