Walk with me this morning as I share some sights and activities around our homestead.

First I have to pull myself out of my downy nest..

An angel card encourages me to get outside and the idea is born to do a #walkwithme inspired by @lindsaybowes! Thanks angels!

I step out of my cabin and am surrounded by the trees I love, mostly grand white oaks older than my oldest living relative.

I spot some chickens out by the high tunnel. It’s a warm day (around 55 F) so it’s also a day to pump water and fill our cistern in the cabin.

To all of you saying, “I thought you had a solar well pump?!” - we do, but the sun’s not out!

So we pump.

(Something I actually like doing once in a while)

I take a turn.

We can pop in the high tunnel to see how our plantitas are doing...

First I spot some daffodils popping up. Stay dormant little guys!!

Some carrots- these have been slow-growing!

Then I go out into the field, our main growing zone.

The chickens are terrorizing our mulched garlic! Off with you!!

Poor garlic!! They just won’t let you rest In Peace!

And our sleeping sasquatoons and baby vineyard! So much of homesteading is putting things in the ground and waiting!

Alright time to check on the solar! It’s been cloudy and I may have to wait to get online til the batteries get back to over 48v...

Just what I suspected! Hardly any watts coming in. Will need to wait to see if it gets sunny before using more energy!

Alrighty let’s go get that water pumped into our cistern in the cabin:

Ini’s already getting it set up. We have a 24v pump we hook up to get water into the cistern which is in the loft.

Awesome walk through!

Good to see homesteaders getting along so well!

Thanks @torquewrench1969 <3 it's good to be alive

This is such a beautiful setting for your amazing homestead. Thanks for sharing some of the daily reality of working with solar & water in an off grid situation. Yay for lots of planted food ready to bust out!! And btw, your dogs are pretty cute!

Thank you @sagescrub <3 Yes, it's always up to the weather, mostly the sun. Today is abundantly sunny, but very cold! And thanks, love my pups <3

Thank you for giving us a glimpse into your lives and showing us around your homestead. I really enjoyed it! I have to say I am kind of jealous. You have already implemented several things that we are looking into/planning on getting setup. We have been looking into getting a high tunnel to grow some plants during the winter. Also, we have plans to get our solar panels set up this next year (fingers crossed). Great Job!

Thanks @knowledge-seeker! I appreciate your kind comment and in return I want to send you abundant encouragement- your dreams are unfolding and underway! We had these dreams for many years before they started manifesting on a material plane... And now it's time to flow them out! <3 Blessings on your solar panels and high tunnel. WE'll be writing a post soon on how to get a high tunnel grant, if that interests you.

Yes, that would be of great interest! I will definitely be checking that out and thank you for the kind words.

That was SUPER cool!! What an awesome glimpse into your lives, thanks for taking us about. I can't believe you have flowers trying to bloom in the dead of winter, and I can sure see why your gals won't leave the garlic alone, that looks like a prime scratching area for #chickenbitches to do their handywork hahaha! <3 <3 <3 What a great way you live! Congrats on your sustainability!!

Thanks so MUCH! <3 <3 <3 oh man those #chickenbitches... shortly after this, i put them in their pen. They just wont leave that garlic alone, haha, prime scratch for sure, but i don't want to leave them locked in all the time!! Thanks so much for your encouragement and bringing so many of us together through #walkwithme and #ophumanangels .. you and your hubby are doing awesome things on steemit and in the world. Blessings your way <3 <3 <3

Everytime I see the solar, your new home and all the other things... I think of the TV show. I am in such awe at how far you both have come, and added to your homestead since the Raney's visit. I wish they would do an update show and feature you guys!!

Blessings to both of you!!

Awww thanks @goldendawne! <3 They told us if we ever want to make a video they would share it on their website and facebook page, but we got some meanies on facebook so I'm not sure I want to reach out like that LOL! Steemit is so much kinder and supportive and fun!

Thank you and blessings right back atcha <3 Thanks for your encouragement and kindness.

edit: and thanks for the resteem, just saw that!!

Oh my <3 I am awestruck, how beautiful is this? Incredible, I aspire to acheive this someday. You two are so inspiring!! I am so glad I saw this in my feed...following you! Have a wonderful day <3

Awww thank you so much @karenfoster <3 <3 <3 you are so kind. Hope you have a wonderful day as well! Blessings! following you too!

Thanks @jayjayjeffery, it's nice when the temps rise a bit, I'm not a huge fan of cold cold weather. Hey, I'm following you now!

You know how to tell interesting stories about simple things. Bravo!

Thank you so much. that's an honor for you to say that.

This was cool - definitely a different world than mine. Thanks for sharing!

Hugs from Boston.

Thanks @mikeycolon... would love to see a #walkwithme from you!! ;)

I forgot who mentioned about how it's a good idea to share your day to day life. For us it may be mundane - but to someone else it'd be interesting.

It's been something I've been wanting to do but I'm a bit of a perfectionist - and the weather has been terrible out here in the east coast of the United States.

I had an opportunity yesterday. I had a photoshoot that would have been interesting - but I had to sign a non disclosure agreement.

I'm going to screenshot your comment and tag you on my post. I just have to wait for the stars to align just right!

<3 so cool dude.... because you're a great photographer, i'm sure whatever you come up with will be good. i, too, can be perfectionistic, but also practice at accepting "what is" including myself and the imperfections of the moment. i think our culture is hellbent on "touching" everything up, but how satisfying it is to come in contact with something gritty and, dare i say, vulnerable.... feeds the soul and plz let me know when you make your post :D

Will do - I took a screenshot of your comment and I'll be sure to tag you in the post. I'm sure I'll do more than one. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks and have a good weekend!

:) cool. thanks, you too!

It is nice to see another off grid family. We live in Norther Alberta Canada and we are completely off grid. We love it. Some of the winter days make it a bit tough but still I wouldn't change it. Love your post

Thank you @carey-page... this is one of my favorite things about steemit.. connecting in positive ways with other homesteaders!! I'll check your page out. My partner is from Canada (winnipeg) and i must say I'm too much of a warm blood to survive (and enjoy) your winters! Too much of a plant geek too and need those extended seasons. Best to you from below the border ;) <3

It is nice to connect with such positive people. I do enjoy that about Steemit. I see many homesteaders on here as well. It is great. Your partner is from Winnipeg. eek that is some crazy weather over there. Yes your temperatures look more tolerable. Love what you are doing.
