Lets explore Adelaide hills - Marble Hill - Governors Summer HousesteemCreated with Sketch.

Today I thought I'd share a mini adventure in the Adelaide hills....but this time not a normal hike in the bush, instead a short hike up a driveway to the Marble Hill Ex. Governor's Summer house and grounds.

I decided to join some friends for some wine and nibbles and check out how the new renovations were coming along. Below is a photo of the old Stables now done up.

Pretty swish! but as I mentioned this is just the Stable house (restored) the original house and all the surrounding buildings burned down quite a few years back in the big fire (1955), since then the State has run a small shed on the premise and allowed tourists to walk around the ruins. Finally the State having no money to spend, sold it to a private owner.

Lets go take an exclusive look - this is private property and parts are not going to be opened back up for the public.

You can imagine the Governors of the past looking out at the old wind powered ships entering the harbor - All fifteen Governors who held office from 1880 to 1955 spent at least some time at Marble Hill.

Lets see if we can sneak a view of how the renovations are coming along (some of the mallsballers may have been here and seen it just as ruins).

Certainly allot of work done, but heaps to go. I understand 5 different Stone masons are on the job. They have to pull down the old, study the lost construction method and try to rebuild and replace in the original style..must be a difficult task, but I imagine also very rewarding to see it coming back to life.

Here's an inside view of the old stables now being converted into a wine tasting bar. Yep, there's my big mug again hehe.

For the moment the Governors house will not be open to the public again. The new owner is just going to live in it himself once fully restored - talk about living it up!

Here's a sunset photo from Marble Hill to close off another walkwithme post.

Take care out there and Steem on guys!

I've never heard of this before. That is some beautiful restoration going on. The new owner must have quite a pretty penny.

I have no idea how someone could have such wealth - I guess thats the win industry for you

A real piece of history. The end results will be amazing

Yeah, the owner was surprised he was the only one that bid for it when it came up for sale

You look vaguely puzzled XD Pretty awesome that whoevere is restoring the place is doing so :)

Lol! yeah I don't like doing selfies; I'm an introvert remember - how the heck I ended up doing social media posts on Steemit? haha :)

🤣 can relate to disliking selfies, this why I usually ever draw myself in stupid cartoony fashion 😜

What! nearly missed this comment - your cartoony's are all cool - if anything like upgoats :)

Just...Wow!
That last photo is amazing.

Looks like you had a good time.
Weeeeee :)

Great sunsets here in Adelaide, wish I had more time to watch them :)
