Adelaide Moonlight Cinema - Worth a try!

in #walkwithme6 years ago (edited)

I thought I'd share another cool thing to do in Adelaide - Catch an Outdoors movie!

I'm pretty sure most of the Mallers have done it, but just in case here is a quick review with some hints and tips :)

So it's a Hot Summer's night in Australia - what is there to do? ...and drinking so much to keep cool... where can you go that has plenty of toilets (key selling point lol!)

Enter the Moonlight Cinema located at Botanic Park, Plane Tree Dr. I'll probably catch a flick here a couple of times a year as its nice to do something outdoors - once the sun goes down :)

Briefly its a nice drive from Adelaide CBD and you can even walk there from the Zoo.

If driving, you can park anywhere along Plane Tree Dr, try to get there about 1 hour before the movie kicks off. It might still be alittle bit hot, but you can get a park easy and it's always a bit cooler in the park

Grab your picnic basket, blanket and low height fold out chairs and your ready to go.

Here's a brief glimpse of my setup from the last visit.

As the sun goes down it gets very cold in the park, so don't forget to take a jacket. I know it seems crazy after a 35+ Degree day, but the park seriously cools down to the point where you shiver.

It's lovely sitting outside and watching the sun set, the cool breeze and watching the screen image slowly becoming more visible - when it's dark enough to see the screen clearly, the movie begins to play

If your in Adelaide give it a go! All the best and take care of each other

That's a fine lookin' plate of fruit there, mate. Need a little dipping chocolate just to get extra-decadent.

Haha true, my wife likes to put on a good spread (...indeed on the choc - but had to leave something home - still trying to withdraw from increased intake since Xmas).

Never got around to doing the outdoor movies. I've been placated by being told that you can't always hear them that well anyway.

It was like that a couple of years back, but happy to say they have upgraded the speakers - if anything too loud now

We have some like that here in Portland as well as symphony in the park.
A great way to cool down for sure. Looks like fun.
It rained all day here. :(

Nice - Man...I'll take some of that rain.

I went to go see Florence and the Machine in Botanic Park last week. I can't imagine that the cheese lasted very long outside in that oppressive heat. Do people at least take their rubbish with them at the end of the film? I was appalled at the condition of the Park directly following the gig last Wednesday.

Yeah they keep this part of the park pretty clean to be honest - guessing they get kicked off if didn't as its a regular thing.
