SAN JUAN BAUTISTA MISSION
Hi steemians! So since it was a little to chilly for sandals and shorts we decided to head inland to historic San Juan Bautista mission.
The Californian Missions are so fun to visit. Sunday’s are the best days to go since its free! Sorry Catholic Church you got way more money then me. Haha

Service was just over so got to walk in and get some nice shots.
Just imagine this place has been in use for over a hundred years!! It’s so spooky in these kind of places. For sure this place is very haunted! We actually got a pic of me with a ghost awhile back! I’ll have my girl comment on here with the pic later.

It’s so horrible what the church did to the natives.
This place makes me think of the garden of eden. If you come visit California i totally recommend you go to a mission.
They are up and down the whole state!

It's a beautiful place, but yeah ...there were probably so many horrors committed there. :(
Years ago my grandma gave me a book about a priest who walked to all the California missions as a pilgrimage and relied on the kindness of strangers for food and shelter. I'm not sure if I still have it, or gave it away.
Every mission ive been to has mass graves of Indians, its pretty surreal. Thank goodness times have changed. They can get better, but what a dark period it was back in those times. Soon ill be doing another mission post but at a different mission. There are 6 missions within a 50 mile radius of me. Hopefully ill do post on all of them

I was there way back in the 1970's as a 14 year old kid.We were there just as the swallows were returning it was cool.Thank You for sharing!It brought back good memories.
Oh wow! I imagine the place is still the exact same. Only thing different is probably just a couple new statues. I love coming here it’s so peaceful and usually not to many people. Glad you enjoyed it!
