I'm much more comfortable on a river or lake, even a big lake. The ocean, to me, seems much more intimidating -- so big and powerful, with no place to run to! And all that water, but not a drop to drink! But I can appreciate the attraction of the ocean. And I did enjoy canoeing in the Gulf of Mexico for 10 days -- but always in sight of land.
I know what you mean! The ocean is really a place to survive. But I grew up on a island and you just learn to see as a source of food and life. I love fishing and diving!
