Walk with me 4: Urban Decay, part 1

in #walkwithme6 years ago

Duluth is a really old city, many of it's buildings were built back in the late 1800's. And they are falling into disrepair.

The city has not been maintained the way it once was and leaving Canal Park and Downtown where the tourists are attracted to, shows a totally different side to Duluth.

I'm not sure how long this building has been sitting since the fire. It's half a block from the shelter.

This garage is directly behind the shelter, pigeons live inside of it.

A few houses down the alley lies this one...

The saddest thing about this house, a block up the hill is, people live in it windows broken, exposing them to the below zero temperatures here.

I'm sure it was a beauty in its past.

This one is near Cascade Park.

A crumbling stone wall with downed lines that no one can be bothered to worry about. Couldn't those lines be hazzardous?

Whatever these images say to you, they leave ne feeling curious. What used to be there, before it was forgotten?

What did the decks on this building once look like? How do the residents feel about their doors to nowhere?

Thanks for walking with me and seeing a bit of our world!

Wow....those doors to nowhere seriously freaked me out!! Great photography Hickory, all of it was really poignant.

Right?! What if you sleepwalk off the third floor?!

😱

Wow, judging from the foundation in the last pic (with the back doors to nowhere) that is a very old structure! Cool tour, thanks.

I'm glad you liked it! We have loads of awesome buildings that HAVE been taken care of as well. I plan on putting them in a future walk. 💜

All these old buildings have a story. It is a sad state of affairs to let them run down. Some of these buildings must have been awesome in their hay day.

Yes, for sure! One of the most beautiful buildings here looks like a freaking castle. It was a school back in it's day. Now it's offices. :/

For us who have a tropical climate, snow always attracts the eye, hopefully one day can visit it

It's so pretty, you should definitely see it at least once in your life. 💜

USA robbed nearly the whole world, brought wars to all continents. Now the US-war-Dollar is done. Most of the US economy is in the war-machine. USA= mass killers around the world. STOP the wars, damn USA! And you american citizens also have to suffer. US-Americans, educate yourself about the crimes of the owners of the so called Federal Reserve Bank! They suck the blood out of your nation. And misuse your boys for greedy wars abroad. And the stupid ones follow willingly for a few dollars more ...

I totally agree with you. Unfortunately those of us who are anti-war are either ignored and ridiculed, or told those oh-so-familiar words: "You don't like it? Move!"

My Facebook page has loads of anti-war and pro-peace posts on it.

Thanks for the advice. Today I have been busy running around packing, visiting our soon-to-be apartment to sign the lease and such.

I do generally upvote posts I see from others, though. I usually stop upvoting when it stops paying the author my penny.

Kinda reminds me of Dayton Ohio with all the vacant houses just going to ruin..
