Walk with Me - Down our Road

It was a beautiful day in the Ozarks today. I went for a walk down our road to visit an old abandoned house so I could get photos of it.

Three of our dogs Jack-jack, Loretta Lynn, and Willie Nelson came with me. The rest of the dogs were asleep!

The dogs are always way ahead of me. They never get out of sight though.

Our private road is actually a very, very old piece of Highway 60 that is no longer in use. It's kind of nice to have a paved drive, but when it gets potholes no one wants to pay to have them fixed. It's up to the homeowners who use the road to pool together and maintain the road. So far all that gets done is my husband will fill the holes with chat rock, which lasts about 6 months. Then the next big rain comes, or some idiot who flies down the road, and we're back to square one.

So many pot holes and puddle barometers.

Because nature always finds a way to take back what is hers, large amounts of moss and weeds grow through the cracks in the pavement along the sides of the road. There are even trees that have grown along the sides, making the road narrower and narrower by the year. As it is, you almost can't pass two large vehicles side by side.

These are our nasty neighbors. They put this rope up after a construction vehicle working on our property used their drive way to turn around. I thought the old lady was going to have an aneurysm .

The dogs patiently waiting for me.

At one spot there are two or three large Black Locust trees. Here are some of the thorns they produce. That longest one is longer than 6 inches!

A random wild bird shit!!!

This is where we start to pass next to an abandoned property. What's awesome about this particular property? It's completely overgrown with wisteria!!! It's amazing in the spring and summer. Even gorgeous in the fall when the leaves turn. What sucks about it is...it's everywhere!!! You'll see what I mean in the next few photos.

Can you see the house? It's in the middle of the photo. It's literally being held up by giant trunks of wisteria vine. In the spring the house is green and purple from all the wisteria and its blooms. It's crazy.

Along with a house, this property boasts two vehicles. Can you find the first one?

Here's a slightly better shot.

Did you spot it? The other vehicle is easy to find. In fact, it is often the only thing anyone notices. Almost no one realizes the giant mass of vines in the middle is actually a house.

The truck has sat for so long, it's buried to its bumper in leaves, branches, and other debris.

I have no idea if this belongs to the truck or not. It was just kinda laying there.

That's me!
And it's time to head back to the house. The husband is on his way. He has the stock trailer and inside is a much anticipated new member of our homestead! Stay tuned for an introduction to a new little one!

Random find - but really like the pictures! Outdoors are where it's at! A dog person myself but only have one... Thanks for sharing.

We have nine! Thanks for stopping by, @ai125!

Oh great photography. I cant stop laughing at this-the name of your dog called nelson!

He's a silly mutt, for sure. :)

Hey, thanks big time.

@hethur240 you sure do have a way with words. I’ll bet that old house is really pretty when the wisteria blooms. We lived on a dirt road for 10 years before moving to this place, so I appreciate your sentiments about a paved road. I love your walks. Even if they do have a bit of shit in them. Lol🐓🐓

Hahaha! I'm glad you enjoy my shitty walks. ;) Hope you're having a good start to your week, @mother2chicks!

I would love to see that house when the wisteria is in bloom! Or maybe you won't be able to see it at all. Wisteria is so pretty but I guess this is a case of "too much of a good thing"!

It's gorgeous in the spring. There is so much of it, it's breathtaking. I just know that I never, ever want to move any of it to my house. I'll just enjoy it where it is. :)

Nice place to visit. Good nature and awesome landscape. You just took the best spots of it. Wonderful

Looks like an awesome place to stroll and connect with nature. Thanks for sharing!

A lovely walk. This reminds me of my childhood :)

That house was so creepy!!! All those pill bottles and religious cult documents... And all the wisteria!!! Great shots :)
