Currently, the most profitable cattle breeding business is fattening. Maintain a cow from the size of the bakalan until the size is ready to cut. Most cattle in Indonesia focus on fattening. Rarely there are breeders who cultivate intensive breeding business. Cattle breeding business is considered less profitable economically.

So far, many cattle breeding business done by traditional farmers. Productivity is less reliable. Many done as a side business or family savings. So Indonesia is always short of beef cattle. To meet that need, many cattle will be imported from other countries.
