A Magical Journey- the mystery tour
Hi everyone, after such a lovely walk in nature yesterday up to the top of Glastonbury Tor i was feeling like i needed a change of scenery to wake up too, so filled up the tank of Alice my truck/home on wheels with diesel and set off into the darkness in an Easterly direction.
I was tired, journeys always seem longer when im driving if i am tired but after about an hour on the road i arrived at my destination.
When i found a level"ish" spot and turned the engine off i went into the back threw some kindling into the log burner and it was soon lovely and warm.
The reception is good here on my phone, and i am watching a great series at the moment on Netflix some evenings called the Great Wild North. I am fascinated by extremly cold places and i am loving this fly on the wall show about trappers with its hard ecentric characters!.
I then managed to get the first episode of a trashy show called Lost in Space before my eyes were sore and i was ready for sleep.
I have purposely not let you in on the secret as to where i was headed because when i woke up this morning this is the view from my kitchen window.
I am at Stonehenge in Wiltshire parked on the old drove thats next to the famous ancient monument and i have quite a few neigbours as you can see.
I've lived on the road for around 20 years and one thing i have noticed over the last 5 years in the UK is the increased numbers of people that decide to live this way, the fact that its cheap ie no rent to pay and that you can choose to wake up in a gorgeous spot like where i am every day if you wish.
People have become less materialistic, consumers have chosen over recent years to have more value on life experiences rather than stuff, maybe this is one of the reasons more people choose this way of life.
Freedom is whats most important to me, and i find my peace and inspiration from nature, this is my most valued medicine.
When i look around me in the World outside, i see a duality. Take for example yesterday when i was at Glastonbury Tor, at the top their was lots and lots of people that had made the steep ascent and were then sitting or just walking around the summit taking in the energy, and the magnificent view. But then just 50 metres fron the top and off to the side where not many people get too is the quiet and peacefull spot called the egg stone.
"Take that journey. Go through that door. Follow your dreams, more importantly follow your heart. I wish you all the wonderful discoveries about yourself and the infinite blessings you will receive along the way"
I've always been the sort to grow deep roots, but you do state a good case. What a beautiful place to wake up to. I'd love to do some traveling in the UK.
I would love to find somewhere beautiful to stop travelling and grow some deep roots @ginnyannette
Wherever i stop i feel these roots really digging down, but then my adventurous mind wants to set sail to somewhere else again.
We do live in such a wonderful World ❤😊
Nice view mate, and 20 years living on the road are you still keen on many more years of this life style?
Very good question @j85063
One that after all these years i still ponder. It suits my spirit to adventure and i feel more comfortable away from society's "ism's"
I think when i eventually settle i will love to build my own home maybe an Earthship, i love cob buildings, strawbale, anything alternative off peg that compliments the land, off grid own water bore exc it will be in a remote and wild place where food can be grown in abundance. Im still daydreaming of the day when i am financially able to do this.I've found a few spots around the World on my travels ver the years, im just enjoying my journey along the way.
Cool i am glad your enjoying the journey. I am thinking of full time traveling.
Go for it, you will not look back. The World is your oyster my friend 😊
Egg stone seems peaceful 🌼
Thank you sharing wonderful travel story @happysmileyman
Its such a magical spot, many people go there to make a wish @wandress
You will love where i am today too 😊
Lovely❤

Man what a view!!!! How classic!!! What is the traveller scene like now? Has it changed? Are peoples attitudes to 'vanlife' different? Is it easy to find a site? I can see a lot of other vehicles in the lane... is that just a day thing as it looks quite neat! Do they get moved on? I miss it!
Theirs lots more people living in caravans and trucks around the cities @riverflows because i suppose its cheaper to live. Its not going away, and with the costs of rent exc and low wages a lot have no choice.
Wow, what a view to wake up to!
Its totally priceless @darkpurplelight 😊
Do you really make some fire in your van ..? ^_^
I'm so impressed by your bold way of living, there is a big part of me that wants to live on the road, I would like to wake up every morning in a new scenery...drive and stop when I feel to stop...draw, paint, write, read, sleep in multiple places...
I will happily follow your adventures then... ;-)
