#WalkWithMe: Catkin Time
Catkins are popping on the willow trees along City Creek. Here's a closer look:
Here's a different sort of dangling catkin, I think on a sycamore tree CORRECTION: Alder Tree Catkins:
Up close, it resembles a beaded lei with many rows of flowerets:
I think this ruby colored leaf bud is from an alder tree:
I was struck by the bright colors carpeting the mostly barren sandy soil.
The macro function on my Samsung Note 8 reveals tiny succulents with the occasional colorful herbaceous leaf to paint the ground:
The creek was running too high to cross without getting soaked, so we just enjoyed a quick 1 mile meander this time.
It was the perfect stroll for a cold February day.
Thanks for joining me on another nature #walkwithme!
Love,cat
Oh yeah @creationofcare, you chose an excellent subject for shooting and these buds in the trees look amazing!
Thanks so much! The way the yellow scales of the willow buds open up, and the catkin pushes out...and all the tiny florets! It just amazes me how nature works.
Great photos @creationofcare and it looks like spring is already coming into its own!
Hehe, all the plants are getting a bit randy and showing off their tender bits ;)
Beautiful photos and amazing to see these earrings now, it looks like are very warm!
Your reply confuses me....but thanks for commenting!
Interesting photos and it is very unusual to see such earrings at this time of the year!
Thanks! You are the 2nd person to call them "earrings" which makes me wonder if there is a translation error going on. I appreciate your comment :)
Thank you so much for being part of the #socalsteemit community.
I enjoyed the nature walk and the photos of the catkins are amazing. I especially love the Alder Tree catkins. : )
Thank you so much. Those catkins look like someone jeweled them.
