Black & White: 🏂 Spring Mountain ⛷
Last month I posted about a small ski area in Eastern Pennsylvania called Spring Mountain which my wife and I visited in mid-December of 2017.
Having just visited Spring Mountain again this past weekend with the slopes completely blanketed in snow and crowded with skiers and snow boarders, I couldn't help remembering how different Spring Mountain looked on our first visit during the late summer of 2017.
I'm guessing many ski resorts tend to show their age more noticeably without the all-important snow covering that serves as a kind of facial makeup.
I have two sets of images I'd like to share from our summertime visit on Halfway to Saint Patrick's Day of last year: this post features some B&W captures and next up will be a broader set of color photos.
Neither my wife nor myself ski or snowboard. We just enjoyed wandering around to checkout all the activity and then headed upstairs to the Powder Pig Pub to relax and have a cold pint!
All images @cognoscere and taken on Sunday September 17th, 2017 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (Sony RX-100 V)
Powder Pig Pub - say that 7 times without stuttering and you can have your car keys !!!
How do you get your photos so crisp? They always are so clean and clear.
I laughed when I saw the ski lift without seats...and thot....that would be funny to watch.😂
Yeah, that name is a bit of a tongue-twister ;-)
Regarding my photos, I honestly believe the Sony gets the bulk of the credit. I do use Adobe Lightroom for basic editing like exposure, contrast, sharpness, clarity, vignette, etc. I don't have any set of mad skills, but rather just another wanna-be photographer like many others here.
Haha on the seat-less chair lift, this ski resort certainly looks like it could use an infusion of cash to help spruce things up. And I imagine it's likely a tough business to run successfully, given the unpredictability of the weather. It kind of reminds me of many roller skating rinks and bowling alleys I've been to, where it looks like the owners are barely keeping the place functional.
Ski lift areas always look so weird when there isn't snow. When there's snow everything looks pretty under the blanket of white powdery goodness. When the snow is gone, it's just a bunch of trails underneath. Or meadow. Still beautiful, but with the lifts there, it looks funny.
I totally agree with you. It almost feels like you shouldn't be allowed to visit a ski resort unless it's snow covered ;-)
I think if this colored I will be more excited .. thank you for taking us with you in walkwithme
