Walk With Me Around the Yard!
Sometimes we forget to take a close look around our own backyard! That is exactly what I did yesterday! First stop, find the walking stick. The path down the hill can be a bit unstable...just like my knees! Ah, there it is leaning on the shrub!
Some late bloomers! Can you believe it is December?
Next stop, across the front yard taking the path to the brook.
This is where the brook exits under the road, to enter the Fundy Basin. From here I'll be walking upstream.
Something or other that is half burried in the dirt, too heavy to move, left by a previous occupant!
The babbling brook, with a long strand of some kind of water plant.
The brook marks our boundary. The opposite shore is not too inviting as erosion has claimed much of the soil, leaving the tree roots exposed.
I must bring some old egg cartons and a lighter next time.

Old tree spirit complete with horns, protecting us from winter's wrath!
Heading back up towards the house where the crows destroyed the lawn looking for Beetle grubs.
Hello chickens! Plain Janes, unlike @lyndsaybowes pretty girls!
A rose cutting that I stuck under a jar in June...I guess I will wait until spring to remove it.
Time for a short rest on the back steps! Thanks for coming along for a walk around my yard!
Your chickens ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes! I can't believe it's December where you are 😂😂😂😂 soooo jealous!!!! No snow for real wowzer!!!
I wonder what's going on tho? Is global warming real???? 😁
💕 🐓🐔🐓 💕 We will get our share of snow, I'm sure! I like it at Christmas....then it can go away until next Christmas! The chickens don't like it either. They stay in the barn!
See, that's what I always say
I love winter so much, but only on Xmas, because white Xmas is a must , then that's it til next year 😂
I like seeing that rose cutting under your jar. That's the way my great-grandmother -- and her mother -- started roses, too. I do the same. Those canning jars have so many uses, lol. And your chickens are plenty pretty! : )
I remember seeing rose cuttings in jars when I was a kid...never knew why..now I know! This is my first attempt but I see lots of new growth in there 😀
Awwww....wow....what a magical property you have there @anise, thanks for the tour and all the descriptions, I cannot believe my crow friends would to that to a patch of lawn, that is AMAZING! Crazy guys!! What a scene that would have been to watch...
It' an ongoing grub party here! I didn't know it was crows until I saw them in action...I suspected raccoons or porcupines!
Thank you for taking us on a walk through your lovely property @anise, love the chickens! Hubby would love to get some but we live in a suburban area! My in-laws had 2 chickens who eventually died of old age, they were more like pets :):)
Here in South Africa we can only dream and sing of a white Christmas, we normally swelter on Christmas day.
My pleasure @lizelle , thanks for visiting! I spent several Christmas in the tropics (Hawaii and Florida) and everyplace has it's own special charm! The problem with the snow is that it doesn't know it's time to leave when Christmas is over!
No snow and flowers blooming in December! It's a miracle! Your side of the brook looks inviting. The other side not so much. The crows really did a number on your lawn. It should grow back, although it might be a bit lumpy...
Yea, those crows are a constant companion here, but I think I prefer them to the grubs! Last year they even nested in our yard..but the ravens got their chicks...never a dull moment!
LOVE the tour!!
I swear I can almost hear the babbling brook!
