Walk with me Lanzarote
Ok today we start our walk at the lookout over the small group of Island at the northern end of Lanzarote. La Graciosa is the closest.
Lets see what is in the other direction before we walk over the cliffs. localy known as the Risco de Famara.
The biging of the walk starts on the road and then off on a track as we make our way up.

Looking back to Graciosa, here we were hoping to see a field of wild flowes but it seems it was to early for them.
It is very green at the moment dues to a lot of rain, for us its beautiful sight as normally its just gray and black volcanic ash and rocks.
The road continues to climb and we can see a farm in the valley, its a good place to be as the damp from the clouds colects down there feeding the plands and vegitables. Mostly onions and sweet potatoes.
Many years ago people would bring water up and fill these holes, to be used for the goats or donkeys as the worked the fields.
reaching the highes point on todays journey, someone has built a small monument and made a little garden.
A puddle still hanging around after the rains.

Love it ..so interesting, great pictures...I have never seen a place like that. Closely resembling this was Tortola and Virgin Gorda, or maybe Dominiqa. Such an interesting landscape. Looking forward to more.

Lovely to see Lanzarote again! I visited once a few years ago with my mother when her sister (now deceased) lived there. I thought it was a really interesting landscape with loads of sculpted plantings. I also loved the traditional colours used to paint the houses and wood frames etc.

Thanks for your comment my friend. Depending how long it has been since your visit you may see many changes due to the climate. We have had much more rain in the last 10 years and in winter the Island turns very green. Think you should take another visit soon. 😎
What a beautiful place! 😍 Why are the tops of the walls painted white, do you know? To be visible for cars at night maybe? I love the monument at the top!
Most of our building and walls are painted white, its an uwritten by law set down by Artist Cezar Manriqe. As a plan for the Island. It also helps keep our homes cool in summer.
