Tenesar Lanzarote
Todays walk takes us to the lost village of Tenesar, reported to be an old leper colony.
The road heads into the village, which during the volcanic eruptions of the 1700s was cut off from the rest of the Island by lava flows.
Part of the village by the waterfront. Many of the houses have been renovated, but you can see a very old one here under repair.
As its Sunday, many of the residents are enjoying a get together and BBQ s are on the go.
The small village nestles right on the coast under the hill.
You can see from the remote location, that its Leper colony story maybe well founded.
As we reach the end of the track and well away from the main village stands a small but beautiful house, again suporting the theory that it may have been used by those tending the sick and dying souls at the main village.
Hope you enjoyed our little Sunday stroll around a strange but stunning location, on our lovely Island.

Awesome #walkwithme Andy!! That place looks so surreal, and out of place in the natural surroundings with all that white!
I love your banner too btw!
Thanks Lyndsay. As always your opinion matters to me. I hope oneday we can show you around.
I need to get out and do some more walks. 😎😁
Indeed, please keep em coming! What's ordinary to you when you're walking about is alllllll new to us over here :)
Very good point. We do sometimes take our surroundings for granted 👍👍😘
A very interesting story. Most likely very true. I love the stark white buildings against the backdrop of blue sky and water. I wish they would put pots of flowers with colors. I find it hard to see those people with the sweat glistening off their back not enjoying a tree. I have never been anywhere there are no trees. Is it because of the heat or the wind that they resist flowers. All in all a very nice post. :)))
All in all a very nice lady lol. Thanks Marion, yes you are pretty much right about trees and flowers especially on the coast not many pot plants enjoy the wind and as for trees the soil over most of the island isnt very deep and has rock or sand beneath not giving them a strong root system for support. So the guys just lean against walls sweating 😂😂💜
If I were there I would start a campaign. Plant a pot with a flower in each yard. I would introduce a hybrid to make them strong against the wind. They have figured out some of that here against the coastal winds.
Sounds like a great idea. You maybe surprised how many places do have flowers and potplants. Mostly away from the sea. One thing just occured to me for the absence of blooms. These places are mostly used as second weekend homes so watering plants maynot be a priority as much of the time the house would be empty.
But nothing wrong with some inovation 💛
:))
Yes it apears we have plenty of thoes around 😁
.
See you there 💛💛😎😎
I did think it rather strange lol.
ok...that makes sense. I have also seen pictures with flowers from your Island as well. Thank you for that. But..ya. a totally neat idea . Always looking to think outside the box.
Thank you...so much. BTW..honored...for sure
