(Try to) Walk With Me and the Wee One on a very windy Christmas Day

Oh my! We've had an eventful Christmas day this year. It started out as usual, my 8 year old Dorian waiting patiently for everyone to wake up, then me taking care of the chickens, and making coffee. Next comes present time! We exchanged a lot of books this year, I got one on canning and a new Xanth novel, Duncan got Journey to the Center of the Earth, Dorian got two Minecraft novels and two from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and Ash got a whole slew of second hand picture books. Pretty awesome gift giving going on around here. We hung out, had breakfast, took it easy. We sun was shining and it was relatively warm, albeit very windy, so we decided to go for a Christmas walk.

Dorian decided it was too windy and went back inside to wait for Duncan. Ash and I start our walk about.

Down the hill we go...

Only to get blown over. The intensity of the wind increasing, we cut across the ditch and started climing up the hill of the lawn.

We see Duncan and Dorian on the deck, making a short film. Duncan took a screen arts program in college, and while it isn't his profession now he often makes little creative videos of the kids. I'm urging him to join steemit and get some videos up on dtube to share his creativity with other people :)

Chickens are not enjoying the wind either...

And thennnnn..... The power goes out. I don't really mind, we've got a woodstove to keep us warm. The only downer is how early it gets dark here! We decide to cook our Christmas ham on the bbq. In the very windy darky dark. My bbq tries to blow away. But I do it, and we feast down by the woodstove.

The night ends with shadow puppets and Duncan reading aloud from one of Dorians new novels. We were all tucked in to bed by 9:30. A pretty nice family Christmas really, without screens to distract us too much. There were a lot of trees down this morning. Duncan spent most of the day today clearing the driveway of a great big old evergreen that was covered in old mans beard. The power isn't due to come back on until tomorrow at some point, and since I was already planning to head down to Annapolis Royal and visit my mother and sisters I left earlier than expected.

I hope all the people without power across NS are doing okay. I know @lyndsaybowes got hers back in the middle of the night but may still be without internet.
