Neighbors are for Favors
It was lovely this morning, 2°c with a slight mist. Perfect day for a little walk! I've been asked to take care if my neighbors dogs mid-day for a few days so I take this opportunity to go for a stroll.
The Op
I have to make a quick trip to the grocery store first. Picking up some supplies to make pickled eggs later, which I haven't done before but think would be a yummy thing to try. At the store I figure I may as well hide a couple #ophumanangels inspired notes around the store.
Many smiles for a smily guy
The man that works in the natural foods department of our local grocery store is always super friendly and jokes with my kids, so today I leave a little drawing from my son there for him to find.
Do not be sad, be happy
Another note is left on the reduced produce rack, I always find treasures there so I figure it's a good spot! Today I found organic oranges (going to save the peels for zest, mmmm), horseradish root, and nappa cabbage. I forsee a kimchi of sorts in the near future!
50% off makes me happy
The Walk
Hey there Stripe, thanks for showing me the way
Ash and I greet the chickens who are happily pecking and scratching around in the yard. We cut through the trees and come out halfway up my neighbors driveway. This driveway is even more ridiculous than mine!
Looking down...
Looking up...
Ash doesn't want to walk for long so into the carrier and on my back he goes!
I'm walking past the house to the trail that leads into the woods. There is a frozen little pond at the beginning of the trail, home to many frogs and toads who are all snuggled deep into the mud, sleeping until spring.
The trail leads to an old road that runs behind and is accessed from many properties in the area.
Super icy, I'm walking carefully!
Here's some old rubbish
And a whole lot more! A building of some sorts was once here, I think an old barn due to all the fencing...
A split in the path to another property
Time to head back to care for the dogs. It would've been nice to bring them on this stroll but with the ice underfoot and my baby on my back I think better of it.
This is Otis. He is still a puppy and didn't know what to think of me coming in to his house. I came by yesterday too so he calmed down pretty quickly.
This is Lily. Last spring Lily came down to my yard and killed one of my roosters. I don't hold it against her, she is a sweet girl and can't help her basic nature.
They really want to go for a walk...
After the dogs have had some fresh air and time to do their business it's back inside with some treats for them and back home for me and Ash.
This crabapple tree has grape vines growing so high up!
In the summer this is covered in butterflies...
It's snowing like crazy all of a sudden so I'm glad I went out earlier!
Thank you for coming for a walk with me today.
