NHS to Protect Staff With New Law

The Welsh Government is proposing to use the Criminal Justice Act of 2008, Section 119. This will allow for the NHS to press charges against patient who commit the offence of causing nuisance or disturbance on NHS premises. This will further enforce doctors rights in the workplace and prevent verbal and physical assault in the workplace, and can impose prosecution and fines of up to £1000.

This law is going to be initiated in an attempt to reduce the amount of aggressive incidents that take places in hospitals against doctors. For example since 2011 the doctors and nurses of Wales have face over 30,000 counts of assault. Mental health Nurse Jeremy Davies says "We are dealing with people in an environment where they are afraid, hurting and they are not aware of what is going on and the challenges staff are facing,"

It is understood by doctors why patients feel discontented with the service of the NHS, but the people working at the base level are trying their hardest to ensure that it is operating as efficiently as possible given circumstances. Disruption of NHS staff is unacceptable and impedes the doctors ability to provide punctual healthcare, and it's important that the Government does what they can to keep them safe and their patients out of trouble.

Labour Stronghold Fighting Conservative Votes

Alyn and Deeside has been traditionally Labour voters for many years, and this is definitely reflected in ideology and culture in the area. However no the county is turning a lot of it's votes over to the Conservative party for this years Assembly election, voting for former district nurse and social activist Sarah Atherton. Running on the Labour side is Carl Sargeants son Jackl Sargeant.

The controversial Carl Sargeant occupied the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children since 2003, but was exposed a sex offender in the Westminster Sex Scandals. He took his own life at his home in Connahs Quay on 7th November as a result of his despicable actions, and people are most likely feeling the need for change. The seat has been safe for Labour since the beginning of the devolved government, but Sargeant's wrongdoings have diminished trust in the parties authority.

Although the smallest and lowest voting community in North Wales with a 34.6% turnout, they have a very large production industry. With Airbus Broughton and Toyota's Engine Factory in Deeside this sector accounts for 1/3 or 16,000 jobs, and the area houses the A55, A494 and A548 motorways which are crucial to transport. The new candidate will need to provide the motorways with the proposed £200 million for rebuilding infrastructure, and also offer reassurance of support for the production industry in the area. Questions remain as to who can best deliver upon promises, and who the population of Alyn and Deeside will react to the candidates proposals.
