CHANGING THE WORLD AND MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE - THE HAWKERS CORNER

I don't know why I like topics like this a lot maybe because there are just few good with kind heart still living. I came across this story in a friends wall in one of the social media sites.

This is a poor young man striving to make a living by hawking snacks in Lagos traffic, Nigeria. Despite his condition, he was still willingly to help others who needs it more than him. He was spotted by others and it was told, a prison van was passing by and the sound of the prisoners was heard as they stretch out their hands out begging for food cos their face could not be seen. This street hawker took out his snack to give the prisoners and even the wards also benefitted from this. At one point, he was seen running after the Van and were still distributing the snacks. He was called my friend and questioned him, if he was given money for the snacks he just gave out but he send No. He said he heard them begging for help saying they were hungry and need food and that is the best he could do to help.

Now this bores down to the corrupt system cos I remember watching the Comptroller General of Nigeria Prison on a news channel defending his budget on the country's Parliament. And among what he listed, he listed that they feed each prisoner with N14,000 on my local currency, when converted to USD that should be $40 per day. That sum is really huge as the supposed amounted was overrated, now supposely they were fed with half of that amount. They won't be crying out for help. Questions to be asked. Who is to be blamed for this? This young man in question whose name is unknown never care to ask this.

It is being said that we should not look at what the government can do for us but wat we can do to change my immediate community. He never had enough but was willingly to give the little he have, this are rare super humans hardly seen these days.

Our community is not just as physical environment or not where we originated from but wherever we find ourselves at any moment is our community and the Steem Blockchain happens to be one of those community which I can boost of helping people and countries far better than what the government has done.

The change we seek does not start with the citizens but with us as the citizens. Only us can fix the government errors and look at places the government has refused to look at. We cannot the change the world in a day but we can start today
