Did The Continent Drifted From Each Other?

According to scientists, Geographers, Biogists and some researchers out there, they made us to realize that the Planet Earth was one before and there is nothing like separate continents just like we have today(Africa,S.America,N.America,Europe,Asia and Australia). It is really hard to believe anyway because you can't imagine someone telling me that even underneath the earth, we still have another earth where some people still exist. I don't know if it is a myth anyway but as far as am concern and the kind of discipline am pursuing, there is nothing like that.

Just like I didn't believe that, so also some people didn't believe that fact that the Earth was not separated in the beginning but there a lot of prove to really back it up that the Earth was one and the continents drifted from each other.

The Earth was known as Pangaea, that is it was one before the continents drifted from each other and the theory to support that fact is called Theory Of Continental Drift.

I will have to take you through my discipline now which is geography to start my explanation. The internal structure of the Earth was divided into Crust, Mantle and Core, the crust is also divided into two, we have the SIAL(Silica and Aluminum)and SIMA(Silica and Magnesium) and between the earth crust and the mantle lies the tectonic plates.

According to further studies, we have 6 major plates between this layer of the earth which represent each continent. This area of study is the major focus of Paleogeography which make use of plate tectonics to explain reason why the same type of spices of plant and animal are found in different location of the earth.

We don't really know what makes the plate to move but according to the work of colin Buckle, he say

it is thought that radioactively generated heat in the upper mantle is sufficient to produce a system of slowly turning convection currents which carry along the tectonics plates with the continents as passenger.

Since these plates are not fixed,they can move towards each other or away from each other. When the move toward each other, they cause features like folding and when they drifted away from each other, liquid molten between mantle and SIMA may rise up to fill the space to form features like ridges and other landform.

Evidence To Support Continental Drift

There are many evidence to support the fact that the continents we have today actually drifted away from each other and one of it is the world map.

If you take a close look at the map of Africa and that of S.America,you will definitely agree with me that the continent of Africa and S.America drifted from each other and to the N.E Africa joining with Europe, you can definitely see the land inform of particles after the separation.

Another fact to support this theory is the presence of the same fossil in different continents boundaries and example of fossil is shell. Plants distribution also support this theory, discontinuous plant distribution can be best explain using the knowledge of tectonics plates. Some plants are found at the edge of some continent and it still continue at the boundary of another continent.
