A Female Child Again!

I don't know of other regions of the world but here in Africa, male child is regarded and well placed in the society than a female child. Whenever a woman put to bed and deliver a female child, the head of the house otherwise known as the husband is not always happy in most cases and this is not farfetched from the fact that a male child always propagate the family name unlike a female child that will always carry her husband name. It is the joy of every man to see their name heard in higher places and that can only be achieved through a male child.

Let me take you through the journey of this fictional work and I hope you enjoy and really learn from it.

The search for a male child look like a major certificate for Bello to reach the sky after his wife has provided him with 5 lovely daughters. It has not be easy at home for Aduke since the birth of her last daughter, her husband has always be on her neck and he was never like that when they first married, even to the birth of Lara their fourth born.

"You will not stand in this house together with me with all these prostitutes you have provided me,i think I have done every possible best in this house to make sure you get me a male child" said Bello.

Aduke will always cry day and night, her husband has refuses to show her the love, care and affection she deserves in her marriage. "This man, all these things you are doing to me is not what I deserve from you, beside I'm not God that gives child" says Aduke.

Bello has always being so cruel and frantic all in the name that he has not gotten a male child that will propagate his name probably when he went to meet his ancestors.

Years later, her wife is carrying another pregnancy and the only thing he has refuses to do is to marry another woman,though he has promise her that he will bring in another woman if she repeated the same thing. Aduke has now turned to a failure in the house, no matter what how she try to perfect everything in the house, her husband will still see her fault.

One faithful day, she prepared her husband favourite delicacy just to entice him so that he will make her happy for once, she set the table and reach out to Bello to come and eat. He has warned her not to use any of the girls name to call him. "please I don't want to hear anything like baba Lara or baba Abeni (baba means daddy) in this house, just call me my name"

"Dear! Your food is ready" Said Aduke. He came in and get set for the food. "Oh my God! You still want to kill me despite the fact that you can't provide me with a male child, did you pack all the salt in this house inside this food?"

Seeking her husband eyes for love remain a bone of contention for her. She finally put to bed again and delivered a female child.

"Congratulations sir, your wife has handed you another queen," said the Nurse. "A female child again!" Bello in a sotto vice.

To cut this long story short, the doctor advice him that no matter how he try to impregnate his wife, he can never get a male child because it is what he give his wife that his wife always gives out and that settle the case at home.

I hope you really enjoy the fiction, we need to educate some of those men around us who has been maltreating their wives all in the name of getting a male child. Let them know that it is garbage in garbage out and they should stop seeing their wives as a failure. Both male and female child can propagate the family name.
