Privilege of walking with God
After we receive the Lord Jesus as Savior, his Spirit dwells in us permanently. However, there is a difference between having salvation, and actually walking with the Lord. Being saved implies the forgiveness of sin and the blessing of eternal security, while walking with God is a privilege of each day.
To understand this idea, consider the example of Noah. Genesis 6.9 identifies him as a man who followed the Lord in a way pleasing to him. In other words, he lived by faith. Without a doubt, Noah should not have fully understood God's command to build an ark. After all, it had never rained. But because the Almighty spoke, Noah believed and obeyed.
For us, walking by faith does not have to be something as great as building an ark to save the wildlife from destruction. Instead, it is something more normal, such as living with priorities that please God, spending time in His Word, or being consistent with the Lord's values in a world that despises them. In fact, it is often when there is no crisis or problem that motivates us, that our true character is revealed. When we are faithful in simple, normal and routine things, our heavenly Father entrusts us more.
Believing God and acting accordingly are important aspects to follow him. Do you have that confidence, which obeys even when God's direction is difficult or disconcerting? Ask Him to increase your faith, and renew your commitment to obey Him where He leads you.
Daily prayer keeps us connected to the source of life, brings us closer to God, allows us to be in communion with heaven. To meditate on the Scriptures, to read carefully the written Word of God, is to allow Him to open His mouth and speak directly to the heart. His Word is eternal, in it we find the answer to each one of our questions. Through the Scriptures we know the heart of God, we discover the love he has for his children. By observing and receiving the Word, we are instructed, we are guided in our daily walk, God warns us and saves us from all danger.
