Once in a while we all come across situations where you are talking to someone and the conversation dies down, then you are both sitting there looking at each others face, as you try to think of a something to talk about.

Hopefully, some of what we will be discussing today will help you communicate better, becoming the life of the party, keeping the conversation flowing and killing that awkward silence between you and your crush.

NOTE :
ALWAYS OBSERVE THE PERSON YOU ARE SPEAKING TO BEFORE KICKING UP A DISCUSSION , PEOPLE ARE UNIQUE IN THEIR OWN WAY AND EACH HAS A TURN OFF AND ON.
SO STRAIGHT TO THE MATTER

The persons Work/Job

What do they do?

How long have they worked there?

Where is the work place located?

Do they like it?

How are their coworkers?

What do they think the company or office can do to improve income?

What’s the best / worst thing about their job?

Talk about the bosses too, alot of people really get roused up when they wanna talk about the meany or cutie that orders them around all day.

Current affairs

.
.

This classical method is also quite effective especially If the person strikes you as being curious and free spirited. You could ask questions about the environment where the person lives but in order to avoid embarrassing the person, don't expand the questions too far.

If you are at a show or conference for instance you might ask if they’ve seen the performer or speaker before.

You could ask if the person heard about a serious robbery or accident that occured near that area recently .

If you are at a restaurant, talk about the management there, their attitude and service compared to others within the vicinity and you could digress it to the person's favourite meal.

If there is music playing, talk about the type of music that is trending and the persons view on it.

Clothes (This has been found to be applicable to both sexes)

.
.
.
This works best if you could comment about what they are wearing.

Maybe try complementing their clothing , what you like about it, why! and also enquire where they got it from.

Where they live

You should avoid asking exactly where they live. You don’t need to know their address. Just keep it towards the general areas.

What part of the city do they live in?

When did you move there? And the best thing about living in that part of town.

Short term and Long term goals

.
.
.

What are their plans for the weekend?

What are their plans after finishing school?

Where would they like to travel to if given the opportunity?

What changes do they wanna make to their environment and the world at large if given the opportunity?
(Such questions will prove to the person or people that you have genuine interest in their lives)

Free time!!!!!

.
.

What do they do in their free time?

What time would they be free to hang out?

What do they wish they had more time for?

Sports...
.
.
.

Do they like Sports?

What teams do they follow?

What do they think about a popular player / team?

Do they play any sports themselves?(this really gets them talking)

Would they mind going seeing a game anytime soon?

Music and Movies

.
.
.

What kind of music and films are they into?

What music did you like when they were younger?
Do they have an actor or actress they prefer?

What is their favorite Album or movie? (This also gets people talking)

Food!!!

.
.

What is their favorite food? Regardless of its origin.

Do they like cooking?

How do they usually find good recipies' and if necessary restaurants?

What weird foods have they tried out?

This is a nerdy one ~Books!

Do they like reading books?

What types of books do they like?

What’s the last book they read?

What Is the name of their favorite author and book?

Comedy / Humor

.
.
Find out what sort of sense of humor they possess.

What actions or questions of yours make them laugh or give them joy? Then concentrate on that.

From today, you never have to worry what to say again, you have an endless pool of awesome discussion topics at your disposal and don't forget to check back anytime you are in a 'jam'

KEEP THIS GOING AND BEFORE YOU KNOW, YOU COULD CHIP IN A FEW SENSITIVE TOPICS SUCH AS THEIR "EX" JUST TO KNOW THEM MORE.

AS ALWAYS THIS IS YOUR GIRL @LIZBETHK

I found this very interesting to read. Truth is people may know all of these fillers and still be awkward in their delivery and responses. I think it's a big deal to be really truly interested in the person you are with and ask only questions you really want answers to. The flip side to someone reading this and trying it out later is that they might be uninterested in the answers and would definitely forget which could lead to a further depreciation in the friendship with the other party thinking they are uncaring and absent minded.

This is true @mosunomotunde and thank you .

A important thing to note is genuine interest, people can sense it when you genuinely want to know about them.

So folks! Pick from the variety of topics and keep the conversation going but remember, show some care and genuine interest
