Forgiveness of Sins (8): Post-resurrection
Text: Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Yesterday, we considered the pro-resurrection statement of Christ during the Passover to show that the minds of the Jews have to change from just observing religious festivals to acknowledging what God is about to do: offer sacrifice for sins!
After that statement, Jesus went to the cross, was dead for three days and three nights and rose from the dead. After His resurrection, He appeared to the disciples and taught them. Let us enjoy that:
What I did had been written! Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: Jesus didn't come to play gimmicks or do as his emotions allowed; He came to fulfill the written Word!
His fulfillment guaranteed the remission of sins!
Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Jesus showed that His redemptive sacrifice was prophesied and that the fulfillment of it now makes remission available to all! What did Jesus tell the apostles? Go and preach that remission of sins is now available!
What is the perspective towards sins after resurrection? Remission is available due to Christ's redemptive sacrifice!
