Nigerian Boys

Many men
who are boys I have met;
each with his ideas
slightly different from the other men

To sum
each of their idea
down to one statement:
they want to have money in much sum

Then came I around
with my own summary
by saying these boys aren't men
they are just confus(ed)ing around

They are LOST found
and deaf hounds pudding the
bush being without the whistlings
of its owner for I found

out now we were
born by our parents with hopes
high in the sky in Nigeria
believing we would be better than those who were

that we have come with promise
to fulfil like the saviour
expected to liberate Israel but
just because the baby has boy office

The rich parents
and the poor parents at our births
have something in common at our births
as they both rejoice and eat rice under tents

The preacher would come
and would preach and other boys
would be around too
in their classy dress/in their petty pants view the king who's come

To join the party of losers maybe
/of classy livers who feed on goodies daily
and the faces of both parents are filled with relief at this spot maybe

But there's been 'T' junctions
in the journeys of mostly all Nigerian boys
The rich are locked indoors but go to good schools all through
The pauper are loosed to beat spoilt tires around in their dirty panties after poor schools; no toys

the classy boys live
in their classy buildings with tall walls and condescend
the other boys with panties petty as unlucky
and they see stars who are black boys from the West mp4 and they emulate what they live

Poor boys see the rich boys
as pompous coz they are lucky
they would go to school blinded with the conception to beat the rich
and they waste the promises on their heads until they die to beat the boys

sick competition which we didn't
see have seen us out of
growth, invention, innovation aye
boys don't see good in others to love; they won't

so boys grow until
forced into men
corrupted
who waste their inventive
prowess unlike Carson.
