Today I will tell you something funny on Thursday the 3rd of this month I was at home just trying to do something to eat you know in this economy you have to be a little creative, so I went to the market and bought ocumo to make some ocumo croquettes according to a recipe that my mom sent me from Valencia.

When I arrived at the market I read my mother's instructions where she told me clearly that I should buy "ocumo criollo" and dressings according to my taste without restriction or anything; however I toured the area of vegetables and unfortunately I did not find the ocumo criollo in its place buys the ocumo chino.

It was the worst decision.

When I got home I fought and washed all the vegetables and dressings I had bought, to go straight to the preparation; however I felt a little discomfort on the top of my hands, I didn't give it any importance and continue.

At the rate of 15 minutes the discomfort in the hands was almost unbearable I was confused and looked like a 5 year old boy jumping all over the house only horror.
Good typical boy without knowing what to do I washed my hands like 10 times and then I put on creams and even applied antibacterial but I did not get any favorable result I was almost crying so I ran to Uncle google to look for something on the internet to remove the burning of the hands and if I found help but let's be honest we are in Venezuela, and even if there is how to remove that discomfort I did not have the materials.

So I everything that should have been the first option to call my mother directly to do it as always she had the solution also not only 1 but I had 2 and both could have it without spending a bolivar commented that I could take cold water and hot water and had to alternate hands in those waters, and as a second option I had to grab sugar and rub it on the affected part.

Of course I was like a child scolded almost crying for what was happening she was on the other side of the phone laughing dead for what was happening in my house.

After doing what my mother told me to do I went online and since I had studied biology years ago I discovered that the Chinese ocumo has a toxin called oxalates that use it as a measure of protection from natural predators. In the field they know it as the milk of the ocumo and they say that if it is the heart of the ocumo the milk is stronger.

Unfortunately this causes a kind of burn on the epidermis i.e. it causes a lesion on the first layer of skin and hurts in a way.

Moral if your mother says it is ocumo criollo you must be obedient and buy just that do not go for similar products I learned the bad.
