Today we are here to talk about what the Komodo platform is and why it's an extremely interesting project. Komodo has many aspects that would be successful on their own, however they plan on bringing all of these components together into one platform to make a truly functional ecosystem. Let's start off with the feature that makes us most excited:

BarterDEX

BarterDex is one of the most groundbreaking technologies in cryptocurrency. Komodo's BarterDex decentralized exchange is aimed to be the one of the first functioning decentralized exchanges. The problem with current cryptocurrency exchanges is that they're centralized and act as a middle man which doesn't align with the true ideology of crypto, decentralization.

With BarterDex technology, you will get all these features on the decentralized exchange. Let's say you wanted to buy Komodo and/or Ethereum with your 1 Bitcoin but you want to buy at the best price. Traditionally you would have split your bitcoin, .5 Bitcoin each, and place an order to buy at a specific price for each Komodo and Ethereum. If Komodo never dropped to the price you wanted to buy for you'd be left with .5 bitcoin and the Ethereum you were able to buy. With Liquidity Multiplier you will be able to place a full 1 Bitcoin order for both Komodo and Ethereum at the same time. What Liquidity Multiplier will do is honor the trade that comes first. If Komodo reaches the price you placed an order for before Ethereum does, it will buy the full 1 Bitcoin amount of Komodo. This feature is great for traders, and allows them to optimize their cryptocurrency trading.

DICO "Decentralized Initial Coin Offerings"

Right now when people/companies release ICO's they face third-party discrimination, vulnerability to theft and human error, manipulation, and lack of privacy. Komodo DICO's allow anyone to come in and partner with Komodo, giving them a plug-and-play solution.

Guaranteed Returns!

Any Komodo wallet address that has at least 10 KMD is eligible to receive an annual 5% reward which accumulates automatically. That is better than most savings accounts, which, on average, barely reach 1% return.

Roadmap

We can see from Komodo's roadmap that they are spending most of their time this year focusing on the key features that make them great, BarterDex, DICO's, and public adoption of blockchain technology. Komodo has a lot of "OG" power players in the "cryptosphere" on their team and a lot of them work full time. What makes Komodo more than just a currency that can be used to pay people is that it has real use. This roadmap shows how Komodo can and will actually be used to serve a function in the ecosystem. How many other coins can say they are more then just a way to transfer funds?

Mining & Notary Nodes

Komodo is an equihash algorithm cryptocurrency, Komodo is in the top 50 cryptocurrencies by marketcap. Mining profitability is low due to the notary nodes and dPoW (Delayed Proof of Work).

Notary nodes notarize the KMD blockchain onto the BTC blockchain. Any blockchains that are built on the Komodo platform are therefore also made more secure by the notarization. There are 64 of these nodes running at all time. 4 of them are developer nodes and 60 notary nodes that are elected by the community. 30 of the 60 go up for reelection every year based on performance and activity in the community.
