Belief in authority is faith.

If anyone really believed that the state possessed some right to rule, they would immediately turn themselves in for any infraction that they committed. If they caught themselves speeding, or realized that their tags were expired on their car, they would call the police and accept their tickets. If they accidentally took the wrong pill, they should volunteer to go to jail for substance abuse. Nobody applies the same standards to themselves that they apply to those who they demonized as "law" breakers. Even the most indoctrinated, police worshipping, cult statists believe that they should be treated differently. They don't want their idea of justice applied to them, because they understand that humans aren't supposed to be treated that way. They only support that violation of others because they don't think of those "criminals" as humans.
Government propaganda exists for the purpose of supporting their perceived legitimacy, and expanding their power. In order to maintain their power, they have to convince the majority of people that what they're doing is necessary, and right. If people didn't believe that government had the right to steal from people, and cage or kill them for resisting, the government could never get away with it. People would see the government as an invasive force, and they would fight. This belief in authority is only on the surface though. It's faith. It doesn't take much thought to realize that if humans own themselves, then the individual must have complete control over his or her own body. A person can't be violated voluntarily.
