There is nothing political or religious about Voluntarism
People often mistake my views on Voluntarism and Animal Rights as overly political or religious when in truth, I do not have any political affiliations nor have I ever subscribed to any religion per se. I simply follow the truth for which there is no religion or authority higher than.
Through reason and logic, I have arrived at the self-evident truth that contrary to popular belief, not everything in this universe is subjective and there is objective truth. If there were not, the fact that everything is subjective would be an objective truth.
My opinions on rights are not my opinions, they are universal truths derived from the understanding that I either own myself, everyone owns me, or everyone owns a little bit of everyone.
As I have come to the understanding that I own myself, I have realized that no individual or group of individuals have a moral claim on my being. Moreover, every individual has a right to freedom of action within the limits drawn out by the equal natural rights of others.
If you believe in protecting the rights of the minority then why not protect the smallest minority, the individual?
I have found this idea to be best represented within the Christian teachings of The Golden Rule. As I do not want to be assaulted, coerced or deprived of the right to live my life in pursuit of my own happiness, regardless of what I want for myself and the world, I cannot force others to sacrifice their rights so that I may achieve my ends.
On what moral ground can it ever be justified to prevent someone from choosing who he or she wants to associate with regardless of them basing their decision on race, religion or any other arbitrary distinction? How can one claim to respect freedom and The Golden Rule when advocating it right and necessary to force individuals to sacrifice themselves on the altar of The Common Good to secure freedom? There could be no greater contradiction.
If Jesus Christ was alive he would be a voluntaryist, not a socialist.
