Ba Dinh Square

Ba Dinh square is the name of the square in Ha Noi where president Ho Chi Minh read Proclamation of Independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam 🇻🇳 on September 2, 1945. It is named after the Ba Dinh Uprising, an anti-French rebellion that occurred in VietNam in 1886 - 1887 as part of the Cần Vương movement. It remains a major site of tourism and pilgrimage for many Vietnamese and tourists alike. A huge area it also has several important buildings located around it, including the President's Palace, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and National Assembly Building.

The Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh

The final resting place of Vietnamese Revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh is in center of Ba Dinh square. It was inspired by Lenin's Mausoleum in Moscow but incorporates distinct Vietnamese architectural elements such as the sloping roof. The exterior is made of grey granite, while the interior is grey, black and red polished stone.
The mausoleum's portico has words Chủ tịch Hồ Chí Minh (Ho Chi Minh chairman) inscribed across it.
The banner beside says Nước Cộng Hoà Xã Hội Chủ Nghĩa Việt Nam Muôn Năm (en: Long live the Socialist Republic of Vietnam).
