The ability to run is an art originating from Nanggro Aceh. This dance is a visualization of one of the philosophies of the life of the Acehnese, showing hospitality in welcoming guests. Looking at the characteristics, on this basis, this dance is classified into types of traditional dances / ceremonies.

1. History of Ranup Ability

Ranup in Indonesian Sirih, while Lupan consists of two words, namely (Lam) which means "In", and (Puan) which means a typical Acehnese betel spot.

This dance was created by "Yusrizal" (Banda Aceh) more or less in 1962 M. Taklama after being popular in Banda Aceh, this dance developed in other areas in Nanggro Aceh Darussalam. Besides the famous Acehnese Ranup Lam Puan, along with the dance group Pocut Barhen also created other traditional Acehnese dances, such as Meusare-sare, Bungong Siyeung-yueng, Tron Laot, Poh kipah, Rebana Dance, and Cakra Donya Iskandar Muda dance. . At first, the Ranup Lampuan Dance performed by seven female dancers was created with the accompaniment of traditional Acehnese music (Surune Kalee).
