Afghan Paper News: When Will The War End?

in #vlog5 years ago

Last week’s release of secret confidential reports regarding the Afghanistan War was a bombshell. Though I’m not surprised, it’s a shame to read about the real happenings in a war going on for nearly two decades. These reports trace back to 2014 (we’re talking five years). Even worse, the Afghan Paper News is not getting much coverage within the cable news networks. The impeachment inquiry has mostly consumed the news cycles. The release of the Afghan papers is an excellent example of what establishment news networks are not interested in covering.

What Will Be The Best Response To The Afghan Paper News?

So, where’s the accountability in our government? Is President Trump going to do something about it, such as ending this war? Is Congress going to act and pressure the White House to end the war immediately? Unfortunately, none of them are going to do the right thing. As I discussed in my video, the release of the Afghan Paper News is a strong case for grounds of impeachment. Forget the current impeachment inquiry (Ukraine). We’re talking about a government committing a unique act of treason against their people.

Sadly, nothing meaningful will happen going forward with this story. Sure, people can organize massive protests outside the White House, or chant anti-war slogans at Trump rallies. Kudos to Scott Horton, who made a great call to action in his speech last month at the Mises Symposium in Lake Jackson, Texas. However, I’m not optimistic that this approach will be practical at the moment.

What Can We Do?

The best thing we can do is to educate ourselves on the issue of US foreign policy: its history, current events, and the long-term implications. Read books, go to websites (such as the Ron Paul Institute For Peace & Prosperity) that expose the truth on American foreign policy. I believe this approach will be much more effective if we want to change the culture in the long run. The more we educate ourselves to understand the truth, the better we can position ourselves to pressure politicians to do the right thing.
