Vlog #5: Watch my interview with a Steemian who rode his bike for 1hour 30minutes to get to the Steem Accelerator Hub to access free WiFi and electricity to blog
The Steem Accelerator Hub, STACH Port Harcourt Nigeria, is the first Steemit hotspot created to decentralize the offline and provide a collaborative work space for the creative commons.
From Mondays to Saturdays, the Hub is home to Steemians who use it as their work space to be able to access the internet and get some quality work done as it comes equipped with 24 hour electricity, Free WiFi and conducive work space and that extra touch of professional support.
Yesterday, November 13th, a regular at the Hub @pangoli came calling and I was surprised to see him riding in with his bike.
When he walked into the Hub, he was a sweaty given the weather time very hot and also he had rode from for 1 hour 30 minutes from his home to be at the Hub. If he had taken the taxis, he would spend N450 ($1.50), but since there was none, he had to ride down.
The drive now more than ever before is to set up Accelerator Hubs around the Nigerian Nation so that the creative Commons can have access to the internet and be free through the Steem platform that has been an inspiration to myself and hundreds of Nigerians out there.
The first Steemit Nationwide Campaign tagged Project20millionNaija is presently running and the target is to get Steemit to 20 million Nigerians. I will be attending the Steemit Workshop in Ibadan.

Riding on a bike for 1hr 30min !! Damn... We really need more infrastructure in Nigeria. The cost of data bundles are just too high coupled with flunctuating electricity.
@pangoli must be really exhausted when he get there.

He was exhausted for sure, but he did burn some calories and was able to get some work done at the Hub.
That is the reason why we created the Hub, to decentralize the offline and break the barriers stopping you from achieving a profitable time online.

I am a serious proponent of an alternative source of power we cant be dependent on the very irregular supply from the public utility. This is surreal to ride that long distance because of internet and electricity.
You can only imagine it if its not happened to you. The issue of electricity is a major challenge and that alone takes the drive from anyone that intends to start out on their own. I believe we can do better.
I've had my laptop stolen where I kept it to be charged. I do live this dearth of infrastructure that is common in our locality. But it's not hopeless as the cryptosphere is really trying to bridge the gap between the haves and havenots.
I'll keep telling anyone I know, that steemit is a wonderful community..

Thank you. The cost of data is high and when you do get the data, there is no electricity to enable you stay online and use it. Soon enough, we will worry lss.
