THE PLACE OF VISION [1]
There is a place for vision, and its place can never be over emphasized, vision is one of the indispensable ingredients for success, success in anything and everything in life begins with a vision. Vision is the fuel that keeps some going when others may want to quit, it is the secret behind a life of passion, to live without vision is to live in confusion, there’s nothing that motivates people to go through life with force and voice like vision, and it pulls people off their limits, and sets them off on course. Helen Keller, an American author, a political activist, and a lecturer, born like every other child, with the ability to see and hear, but sadly at 19 months old, she contracted an illness that left her deaf and blind, yet she became the first deaf blind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree, wrote a total of 12 published books and several articles, she made a profound statement from which one can clearly see the importance of vision, though she was deaf and blind, she had visions, and seriously pitted those who could see but lacked vision. She said..,
“The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight but has no vision” — Helen Keller
Much has been said and written about vision, but what is vision? Vision is the mental picture of a desired or preferred future, it is seeing there from here before getting there, everyone needs a vision for his or her life, every leader should have a vision for their organization, their nation and for their family, nothing can replace or take the place of vision. Proverb 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he”. Without vision people perish, with vision they flourish. What does it mean to perish? it means, (1) To deteriorate, (2) To Suffer and waste, (3) To be limited, (4) To perform below capacity and (5) To depreciate
“One the difference between those flourishing and those perishing is vision” — George Ifeanyi
As we deal on this subject, let me draw your attention to Genesis 13:14-15, “And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land, which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever”.
God was about to do something in the life of a man called Abram in the above scripture we just read, something that was to determine the destinies of posterity, something that was to transcend from time into eternity, something that was to be the foundation for generations yet to be born, the most frequent place God brought him to was the place of vision, a place where He made him see it before he seized it, a place where he could see it clear before he got there, a place where it was a picture before it became a capture. What he was to get was based on what he could see, if I may ask, what do you see? Do you see a bright future? a successful marriage? a glorious destiny? a blossom ministry?
