We Can Beat The Virus
For everyone living under quarantine, please take it seriously and minimize contact with outsiders as much as possible. It makes a really big difference!
I lived through SARS back in 2003 and as a school student then, i couldn't appreciate the stringent measures taken but i do have a greater appreciation for them and how they helped us bounce back quickly.
SARS symptoms manifested by 5 days and they really floored you so you weren't as infectious. COVID-19 on the other hand takes up to 2 weeks to manifest and because the symptoms for many are considered mild, they continue with their normal daily activities and then spread the virus to those who may be more vulnerable to the virus.
Quarantine length
So if a virus that took 5 days to manifest required a 2 week quarantine to beat, then a virus that takes 14 days to beat will require roughly around 6 weeks of quarantine.
The world is a lot more interconnected than it was back in 2003 and that has contributed to the spread of the virus. If the entire world takes a 6 week break, and we take necessary economic measures to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable, then we can be back to normal in 6 weeks.
If we do things half-fucked as we're likely to do, then it's likely that the virus will be with us for a much longer time.
Good post and great suggestion! I totally agree with you. Yeah! If we do this, we can beat the virus with the earliest possible. I myself stayed at home for one week now. Take care and stay healthy! ;)
