How to easily scan your computer for viruses or malware
If you are not sure if your PC is safe (especially if you hold cryptocurrencies), you can try to scan for viruses and malwares, in this tutorial i will use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
Disclaimer:
- You can use whatever Anti-Virus / Anti-Malware Software you like, i found Malwarebytes is one of the easiest to use.
- If you have another Anti-Virus Software installed, the installation of a second Software of this kind can lead to problems (Please do not install 2 Antivirus Tools simultaneously).
Download the software on www.malwarebytes.com
Install the software:
Accept the administrative Dialog
Read the License Agreement and Install (choose Advanced Options for a specific install location):
Open Malwarebytes, and click on Scan Now:
The updating and scanning process can take up to an hour (depending on your hard drive speed / capacity):
In the scan results, you can choose which files to put into quarantine (delete from your pc):
To finish the process, you have to restart your PC.
Congratulations! You have removed (most of) the viruses on your computer:
Hint: You can turn off automatic startup of the Malwarebytes software, if you wish:
Especially in times of known security risks and zero day exploits (i.e. Spectre and Meltdown, see https://spectreattack.com/) it is most important to have installed the latest updates for your browser, your flash player, java, and your operating system.
