Ready Player One Changed My Life

If you haven't seen Ready Player One yet and you are a Gamer, then stop what you are doing (including reading this blog) and go see it right now!!!

Ready Player One by Steven Spielberg is now my all time favorite movie. Why? Because I have dream to make the Oasis a reality.

Spoiler Alert Ahead: (I will be discussing aspects of the movie that you will want to go see it before you read further.

For those of you unfamiliar, The Oasis is a Virtual Reality (VR) game that people around the world play in the movie Ready Player One. The game becomes extremely popular because you are only limited by your imagination. You can do just about anything in the Oasisand many people don't only spend tons of money in/on the game but they also can easily lose that money. When your player/avatar dies in the Oasis your body can be looted and the looting player gets to keep what you had. This makes people "Lose their shit" because if you have been playing a game for 10 years and you have 10 years worth of money in the game and all of a sudden die... yeah emotion will be felt.

One of the big draws to playing the game happens when the creator James Halliday announces that when he dies, an easter egg will be revealed and the person to find it will inherit the rights to the game and from then on be the owner.

Now there are many discussions to be had with many different aspects, but I want to briefly touch one point.

Making the Oasis would change lives, gaming, and is my dream to make.

There is no doubt that making a game to the scale of the Oasis would be very difficult but if it were achievable, people from many different backgrounds would strive to get their hands on it and experience the Oasis. The Gaming world would also be considerably changed because I many gamers may move to this game either for a large amount of time or permanently. But most importantly, I want to be the creator of the Oasis. I am sure that there are at least some people that want to be the developer of a game like that but it is now my goal in life.

If you have read some of my posts you should know that currently I am not qualified to do that. That is okay. I am going to learn whatever I can. First I am going to develop apps and hopefully make enough money to quite my job and be my own boss. From there I want to start my own company with my brother where we will continue to make video games. Once we have made enough video games I want to start on the Oasis. I know this can take several years. But I know it's possible. I know I can do it. And by the time I actually start developing the Oasis I am sure that technology will be much further and more capable.

I can't wait to get there. Hopefully I will see you all in the Oasis.
