Being a scavenger is not a life choice. They are forced to earn a fortune among piles of garbage.
Stinging smell and dirty garbage are not obstacles. Dozens of scavengers were seen busy sorting and sorting out the garbage piles. The existence of Basirih Final Disposal Site (TPA), on Jalan Governor Soebarjo, Banjarmasin City.
One of the scavengers at Basirih Landfill, Hatmah (60), was seen sitting under a hut made of tarpaulin. With a basket, an iron hook, and a round hat, he seeks sustenance by collecting garbage.
The profession of being a scavenger apparently cannot be underestimated.
Sometimes they often get valuable objects that are wasted. Like gold, cell phones, watches, even cash. Sustenance will not escape his master.
