DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A JACKFRUIT, A DURIAN AND A BREADFRUIT?
I have seen a lot of people confusing jackfruit with durian and breadfruit. So today I want to show you some differences between these fruits.
Firstly, both the jackfruit and the durian are big fruit and have a strong smell. So it is normal if someone can’t stand that smell. The breadfruit is smaller and does not smell. It has to be cooked before you can eat it.
Secondly, on the outside the jackfruit and the durian look different. The skin of the durian is covered with spikes sharper than those of the jackfruit and the breadfruit. You can hold a jackfruit or a breadfruit in hand, but if you try this with the durian you will be scratched and you might bleed. You have to wear gloves to protect your hands.
Thirdly, the jackfruit and the durian are usually used in sweet foods. For example, I have seen the jackfruit added to cocktails or to steamed sticky rice. I often eat cake with a durian filling or durian crepes. Not related, but durian, jackfruit and coconut milk are used in Thai’s sweet gruel. It’s so delicious, you should try it! Last, breadfruit is usually eaten with chili sauce and it has a very good taste. You can also use it to make a soup.
