Hello Steemit gamers!

Some time ago I wrote about toxic people in general, how to identify them and how to deal with them when I made that post the idea of writing about toxic people in video games was also crossed.

In all areas there is a toxic attitude, even to ourselves we can get to behave in a toxic way, it's all about managing our feelings and maintaining control.

In the world of online video games this is a subject that covers a lot of space, almost all players are competitive, no one plays to lose, however, there are those who accept defeat and others who take it as something unthinkable, that is when their ego comes out and makes them a toxic players.

Why are they called toxic players?

Surely many of those who read me have played some game online, and have had the bad experience of crossing someone toxic. These people are the ones who are responsible for filling the experience in the game with bad energy, who make the game stop being a simple game, and change the perspective of everything with just one word, an insult.

Often, we fall into the world of video games to de-stress, distract and even evade the problems we have in real life, video games have that characteristic, give us a moment of happiness and get away from all the bad things that surround us, or just make us have a nice time.

The problem is when the video game that promises to distract you and have fun becomes something that brings out the worst in you, or the worst in another, the negative attitude expands very quickly and is no longer fun.

Surely you met someone toxic with these characteristics, or even you were toxic.

They are unable to recognize that they can fail

As in real life, in video games, there are people who think they are superior to others, perhaps the fact that they are good players goes so high to their heads and they forget that they can also make mistakes.

They usually blame others for their mistakes

They do not assume responsibility for anything, if it is a team game it will look for mistakes in the partner instead of reviewing itself.

Troll

This is like the final phase of the toxic attitude, when they stop considering the game as something important and start doing everything in a random way, fate and without paying the slightest attention, sometimes this annoying attitude because it usually means the surrender or want to bother the friend team. Dying on purpose, giving points to the enemy, not helping the team, these and other actions describe the troll attitude.

Source

Other times trolling is fun, especially when playing with friends, when instead of being competitive just want to have fun, in this case it is not toxic because it does not represent a negative attitude towards the group with which it is played.

Trolling on a team with unknown people is disrespectful, so it is preferable to do it among friends so as not to affect the experience of another person.

They avoid playing with newbies

Remember that nobody is born with skills, we all start learning from 0 and judging or insulting someone for not knowing the correct functioning of a video game is to fall into a toxic attitude. Instead of insulting someone for being a novice, teach them how to play, many people learn so fast that it can surprise you.

Be careful with becoming a toxic person in video games.

It is totally normal to be competitive, and even bother, the fact of losing or winning drives those who play to want to improve their way of playing.

What you should not allow is to let yourself be carried away by bad feelings, by toxic people, or by the problems you have in real life, playing video games means disconnecting from reality, leaving everything bad aside to give yourself time same as fun and distraction.

Some methods to avoid being toxic in video games:

Block toxic people, in all video games there is the option to block a person, which means you can not read or talk to him, therefore you will not have to deal with his negative attitude.

Breathe deeply and not fall into the game of a toxic person, when they resort to insults and bad words it is easy to feel offended and answer immediately, but the easiest way to avoid it is to ignore them or as I said before, block them.

Remember that video games were made with a single purpose, fun, and when it starts to become irritating it is no longer fun or distracting, it only brings problems and leads us to become a toxic person.

It is difficult to have self-control in situations that affect us and make us feel bad, so answering offensively may seem to be the key. Do not be victims of toxic people or let those people ruin your experience in the games, nor bring the problems from real life to virtual.

All video game players go through and go through a toxic aspect, you just have to learn to accept your own mistakes, be tolerant and remember that

it is just a game.

How have i not known of steemgc all this while.
Make room for me.... LOL

Hahaha, come!

I imagine it's much worse for women. I was horrified by the gaming community after gamer gate.

I know how being toxic or acid against others can be because I've suffered that in the past and that's why I always try to be as gentle or have the best attitude possible, lol. Even on fighting games I tend to be wholesome as well. It's not a thing about hating each other, it's about bonding and having a little bit of respect!

Great post Ilhuna!

I would totally support every word up there! The whole point is to have fun after all and a lot of people seem to be forgetting that!
I've actually been doing some "historical" gaming posts lately, covering noteworthy games released in certain years (just made one about 1998) and this has been a thing ever since multiplayer was introduced

Well, I think our temperament was affected since the first multiplayer game comes up, the key is to keep that competitive soul quiet, and learn that we are playing with human beings, not bots, so a word can hurt.

I appreciate your comment!

I'm dating one toxic person and sometimes I'm toxic too, but I'm not expressing it on a keyboard or in voice chat :D

Every single toxic note can ruin me the whole game. People shouldn't be so serious when playing games. This is one reason why I don't like playing ranked.

Nice post. I'll give it a resteem :P

You are so damn right!

Same here, one mistake in ranked means a lot of insults or negative comments, and usually these comments make me play worst.

Sometimes is just like, good luck everybody! and block them all at first minute lol!

At some point, it is funny when the worst of the team blames all the team for his failure. But it is mostly his failure and is completely closed to reason.

In Dota 2 I always commend all players who were patient and calm if I was the one playing bad. To appreciate their attitude.

Yea, it's something nice when you find someone that has the patience for newbies or for people with lag, or whatever, they are not expecting something perfect, just to get the things done with a normal party.

Like I said it in your Spanish post, I really liked this. This is a very interesting topic, games supposed to be fun and relaxing. Sometimes we play to become who we want to be and being toxic is not a good way to spend our time.
