I'm beginning to love your character. How can a skinny guy like that give an upper cut. I used to do street fighter and Neo Geo. It would be cool to make a story out of the game. Also a red lightnig flash at the punch.
As fas as Steem goes I can see a lot of applications built on Steem and if one of them takes off then so does the price of Steem. Gaming for crypto may become the answer to half the world's problem.
My son said yesterday, "Can't I just play minecraft for the rest of my life and get paid for that?"
lol shiet! a lotta korean kids' dream is to be a professional esports player. i'd say it's actually a viable option because it's one of very few industries in korea where skills matter more than politics. there's no professional minecraft but at least he could get paid livestreaming 😎
so might as well start early and build up.
i'm beginning to like the character too. i used it for testing because it was minimal. now it's a wimpy protagonist that goes around punching bigger dudes. i wish i had a model with slightly more detail but we'll see.
i'm now looking into the street fighter story 😁

i don't have any kids so i dunno, but growing up in korea i know where that leads. i was a decent student with decent grades, went to a decent college and had a decent job. i wanted to do something else but i was somewhat brainwashed into believing life will sort itself out if you did those things. now i'm miserable 😐
We talked a lot together over the weekend and I could see both sides. It's really tough being a parent and at the same time not ruin a kid's life. When to stay out of his way and when to give him direction. I hope the best for you in the game and in your family.
I think your uppercut is better than the one in Tekken. Not happy with the kid just standing there after tho - He should gloat or laugh or self congratulate or kiss his fist and polish or something. Meh but looks nice though.
funny my wife said exactly the same thing about the character immediately going into a standstill.
i'll add more stuff and keep polishing! 😄
what i have is barebone collisions and animations. i'll have more stuff like vfx and camera shakes! 😆

One upper cut can be good but do many and it might come off a little silly again depends on the games theme, particle effects and upper cuts are all things than can make the game look and feel better but not necessary, over the top flashy stuff can come off rather cheesy sometimes. Also @roundbeargames I have said this before I really think you should step back a little and figure out first what you want this game to be about, is it a mario styled game?prince of persia, castlevannia, sonic? I feel without this you could build something you regret and have to start over.

I think you can add camera shake for adding the visual effect after the upper cut, just like in Tekken, but I am not sure how it works. You're the expert.. haha

Also, I like the idea of a sort-of Jackie Chan / Bruce Lee character being transported into a fantasy world full of demons and beasts haha. That would be pretty neat and original.
As for the bigger game-dev presence on Steem, I've been hoping for that too. I have a few posts where I talk about wanting to help increase that, but it'll take time before I'm able to actually put anything into the works. People still think crypto is a scam, so you'd have to be weary about how you go and introduce game developers to Steem.
I have a few ideas though, so here's hoping we'll see more come in soon!

yea man i get what you're saying. at the same time, a platform where you can monetize your progress without worrying about ads or selling a game is just overwhelming (at least that's how i felt! 😆)
we're already familiar with devblogs, so all we have to do is shift that over to steem and start getting paid. unfortunately steem is so centralized (even more so than youtube or facebook etc) most devs don't even care. but at least it's got potential, so we'll wait and see what happens. and keep working on our shit! 😺
