Alec Stevenson, was originally from Scotland, first he did his training in Seattle. After he picked up the art of shoe fixing. He had his sights set on Victoria for his shoe clinic. He found a spot to set up shop on the 600 block of Fort Street. The year was 1925, he was able to make it work there until he sold the business to his Nephew Jack Phillion and his wife in 1955.

Under his ownership was able to move to 2,500-square-foot store at 714 Fort St. In 1986. It was the old Canada Permanent Mortgage location. As you can see in the old pictures that they have everything ecept the front office that is the street level espresso that closed. Walking into the store you will be greeted with the scent of leather. The shelves are filled with every type of product you could ever want for you shoe.

They figure about 10 pair of ill-fitting shoes are brought in from the customers who purchased products online every week. It probably helps to have the fix by mail tab. Also demand for shoe-stretching has doubled.
They clame this is where modern technology meets yesterday's craftsmanship. With them caring a large size of shoe care products, and with Clinic experts, that can replace or repair damaged shoes, it not hard to see that they could be voted "Best in Victoria" year after year.
We will look in the back room at some of there shoe repair equipment. Have some shoes that need new soles, they can sew some new ones on.

I was reading that one other shoe repair place closed up because the rent is getting too high to do there business. In the long run that will probably help there business by taking over the others costumers.
