Our First Monarch Butterfly Hatched!
What a surprise this morning!
We found this little baby butterfly drying his wings getting ready to fly for the first time!
We have one more to hatch, maybe today or tomorrow.

every day something is hatching in your backyard LOL
We found the caterpillars in a park and brought them home, watched them form a chrysalis and now one of the hatched!

This is one of those butterfly gardens that you can order right? I think we will get one for the kids next Summer. They would love this because they love nature and insects! 🦋
We are growing an herb garden right next to our doorwall and we saw some swallowtail butterflies laying eggs on our dill and parsley. We got a butterfly enclosure and watched the eggs hatch into tiny caterpillars, growing into big caterpillars, form a chrysalis and hatch a new swallowtail butterfly.
We were releasing the butterflies at a local park when we noticed some Monarch Caterpillars on some milkweed and decided to take some home to hatch. They made beautiful a chrysalis and this one just hatched. We grew almost 50 swallowtails, this is our first Monarch.
My children have learned a lot about caterpillars and butterflies from this experience and has costed almost nothing!
