Bored At Work? Here's Why!

in #video5 years ago (edited)

We've all been bored on the job at least once in our lives, but that boredom is actually very old human wiring. We constantly seek out new information to keep our minds sharp, and when tasks get repetitive we get bored and move on. But what if you can't move on? What if the tasks are your job and you have to repeat them day after day to keep a roof over your head? That, says London Business School professor Dan Cable, is why boredom has become an epidemic. Our brains aren't used to staying in their lanes, so perhaps that boredom is not a bug after all, but a feature.

I love to be challenged with things so yes, doing the same thing over and over does get boring

That search for constant information that our brain craves is also a downfall when it comes to smartphones. That is why people can't put their phones down because there is always an "alert" or something new to learn which triggers that part of the brain.

Some facebookers also have obsessive-compulsive gossip disorder, and become quite addicted. Very sad :(

I used to love repeating some tasks while working on construction sites, I would time myself and see if I could improve on it, although this was on tasks that I enjoyed. I do love new challenges also.

That explains so much!!!
