GOT CHARACTERS PART # III THE SONS OF THE FOREST (ENGLISH VERSION)

in #video8 years ago (edited)

Today I come to talk about characters who had very little presence in the saga of GOT at least the children of the Forest series.

They are the original inhabitants of Poniente, who lived on the continent long before the first men in what was known as the Dawn age. Its existence is estimated at least twelve thousand years before the landing of Aegon; Their origin is unknown, but it is known that they existed along with other ancient races, such as the Giants.

The Giants called them Woh Dak nag gram, "little squirrel people." They preferred to be called "those who sing the songs of the Earth" in the true language.

It is believed that the two species have had disputes, as the master Kennet found a giant wheelbarrow near Long lake with obsidian arrowheads. The children of the Forest lived in the west, from the summer Sea to the lands of the eternal winter. But they called Dorne to the empty land, and the Masters doubted that the sons of the Forest would live in the Iron Isles.Sourse

They are often compared to elves, fairies or earth spirits as they can make their spirits and memories become part of the trees after their death. The Weirwood are the trees with faces on their logs. The children of the forest worshipped worshiped the old gods and lived peacefully until the men came to Westeros.

Things started to get ugly when men continued to expand northward and, not knowing what the Weirwood trees meant to the children of the forest, began to cut them down. It was so that the war between the men and the children began and, although the latter had the nature on their side and created natural obstacles like swamps and closed the passage connecting Essos with Westers, little by little the creatures realized that they could not beat men. The children of the forest realized that they had to make crazy decisions and it is where we can presume that it was the creation of the White Walkers. It was using obsidian that made the first White Walker (which we now know as the King) but little time later the peace was made between men and the children of the forest.
This is shown in the series by a vision of Brand Stark and the three-eyed Crow.

This was not because they wanted but they were forced. Since they saw that the White walkers could not be controlled and they needed the help of the men to fight them. In this way, they helped them build the wall and retreated to the forest where they now live.

The man in charge of the construction of the wall was nothing more than the ancestor of the Stark: Brand the builder (Bran the builder).
The first that appeared these characters in the series was in the last episode of the fourth season of Game of Thrones very exciting by the way, precisely when Bran, Meera and Hodor arrived in the cave. "The first men call us the children, but we were born long before them," said a girl known as Leaf.

We must not forget that Sam discovered in the old black Castle books that the sons of the forest hunted using Spears with Vidriagón (only material that destroys the White Walkers), which was shown in this episode as well as the bombs.

The old Tata was the first to talk about the children of the forest. This old woman spent her days telling stories in Winteria that many thought were just stories.

The children of the forest need young Stark for a more personal matter. The three-eyed Crow, who had been human, could die at any time in the tree with which he is merging. His gift allowed the children of the forest to keep in touch with the rest of the West in a way they could not, since the faces dug in the elders were felled, and Bran is his hope for not losing contact with the rest of the earth.

They're not too bad for the fact that Bran is from the north and a Stark. While the Seven Kingdoms followed the faith of the seven, they maintained their contact with nature by worshipping the ancient gods. They share, therefore, belief system.
In addition, there is a detail that should not be ignored. When Sam well Tarly murdered a white walker with a vidriagón leaf, he discovered in the old Castle Black manuscripts that the sons of the forest hunted with this tool. They are, therefore, a powerful ally.

The term of these characters was along with the dear Hoddor that so far seem extinct already in the series but still very important in the main plot and sure we will continue to hear about them in what is left of the series.

I show them their farewell:

Today talk about them intentionally because in the coming days I will show you a picture made by me of the children of the tree I hope you like and be attentive to my post. So they give me their opinions on how I have left.
