dehumanizing whomever you consider your opponent, like calling soldiers robots, is the first step to being able to kill them or condone their killing. Robots aren't human.
I know what you mean.
And I don't kill or condone the killing of a soldier, just because he is a soldier.
I would condone the killing thought of someone who is killing or has killed innocent people (but then on an individual level never in groups)
It doesn't matter what label the individual wears
You could be pretty busy warning people that are in an environment where this is normal, like the army or the police. Where a lot already have past way over the line and did things.
In statism dehumanization happens with all kinds of words. terrorist, barbaric, criminal etc.
To give an example
Most people won't blink an eye if they would read that the police arrested juvenile criminals, some may start to think when they hear that children were selling lemonade without a permit.
In the army and a country it is normal practice to dehumanize other people as terrorist, barbaric, backwards culture, etc.
And then the individuals go of and kill individuals (even children) who have never harmed them.
Maybe your time is better spend warning those who enter such environments were dehumanizing is normal and not noticed as the thing leading to the killing of thousand even millions of innocent people.
edit; I thank you for the warning however, and that you put so much effort in preventing me hurting or killing innocent people that have harmed no one (or the condoning thereof) You're doing an excellent job in explaining how it works and warning me and (maybe) others.
I was watching a show about Navy SEALS last night and one fellow who was a SEAL sniper, the best of the best of the best and someone who has killed many people without any hesitation, was on a secret mission to secure a safe house and they noticed this terrible smell at night when they were doing their over watch. Well it turned out to be a teenager who had been wounded and the family was leaving him outside at night. Well these guys basically abandoned their mission and put themselves in extreme danger to help this random kid in Mogadishu. I wouldn't expect that from a killer robot. People have a lot of different reasons and motivations for joining the military. Some of them just like to kill but mostly they seem more motivated by a desire to save or help people. That same sniper recounted how he saved a helicopter full of his compatriots by shooting someone in the process of shooting an RPG at it.
There is another series now called "Hunting ISIS" about people who volunteer to go fight with the Kurds for free, it is very interesting to try to see what makes them tick.
Seems like what you warned me for is in this TV show. The barbaric family (representing the people there) and the american hero throwing himself in harms way (representing the "good guy" military) justifying their being there. ;)
But I have not seen it so I can't really be sure and judge in how far this is propaganda.
You know what I "like" them to show the people?.......The things they don't show. But that is not part of their programming I guess.
Anyways funbobby51 .......have a good day....or night
:)
Sounds like you want to dehumanize some people.
Could be that I dehumanize those that have dehumanized (made corpses out of what were humans)
Indeed, consider that doing so is always the first step.
Condemning murderers doesn't make you one.
I'm aware however about the religious practices.
