I just bought our tickets for me, @vermillionfox, @bryanpolitte and @guthrie to go see Venom this Friday. You going @cryplectibles? My expectations are pretty low. Tom Hardy is about the only reason I’m going.
I doubt I will be going first day, but then again, for $6 at a matinee it might be worth it. It really stinks, I had like super super low expectations for this flick for a while. Then I started to dig the visual look of Venom, even without the big white logo his alien goo and face and things looked good.. .. and yes, Tom Hardy, he rules and in this part it even seemed like a half decent idea.
After this past week though, I'm back to not only low expectations, but no expectations. The few reviews coming in seem like they are being apologetic or polite in saying good things about the movie. It seems like in the end it might be fun or good, but not for the right reasons, because of the its so bad its good line of thinking. Also, before all the crazy Twitter rage went on, I felt it was a telling sign when Tom Hardy quotes that had just come out:
When asked "What was your favourite scene to film?" he said: "Things that aren’t in this movie."
The Taboo star continued, in a possibly tongue-in-cheek reply: "There are, like, 30 to 40 minutes' worth of scenes that aren’t in this movie... all of them. Mad puppeteering scenes, dark comedy scenes. You know what I mean? They just never made it in."
