Old carriage

in #veiclephotography6 years ago (edited)

There is something magical about old weathered things. They remind us that time is passing by and change shape and purpose of everything. While traveling through small-town Quorn in South Australia I noticed small park full of old-time vehicles and agricultural machines used who knows how long ago.

Every single carriage or machine was, just because of their imperfections, a small piece of art and a not only piece of history. Damaged paint, cracked wood, bent metal, made real artwork worth stopping by and recording it with the camera.

I made a whole series of photos of these old beauties, but in this post, I will concentrate just on one...broken old horse cart which was used for who knows what. Judging by its colors probably for a transport of a people.

I too enjoy all things old. I like how the rims seem to have fallen off the wheels in such a neat manner - wouldn't it have been fun to have captured that moment?

I wonder how long before it totally disintegrates.

We had a rocking chair in our garden - it was my husband's grandmother's - circa 1900 - and it took a long time for it to rot....once the rockers were off the rest of the chair tried to stand for a couple of seasons but gave up the ghost last year. It too was red at one time, then painted green, then red again. So all the chippy bits peeling gave it nice texture.

Who knows when it will totally fall apart but that day is not too far away. People are climbing and taking pictures on these old things, probably that is the main reason why it fell apart this much. I have no clue why I like to photograph these half disintegraed things, maybe because they are not perfect...
