The truck was invented and built by the same people that came up with and built a car car. The first such machine was created by Gottlieb Daimler in 1896. On it, as expected, an internal combustion engine was installed. By that time, Daimler was already a very experienced designer. Working with Wilhelm Maybach, he had already assembled several engines and tested them on a bicycle, a balloon and a boat.

In 1889, Daimler built the first car. By 1895 the company, created by the inventor, had already produced more than 1000 engines. The truck is believed to have appeared accidentally, during experiments with motors. Daimler and his colleagues decided to check whether their new motor could drive a heavy, multi-toned car and what speed such a car could develop.
